Call for Submissions: Studio Jijiji – Short Wave Stories
Studio Jijiji is seeking original short stories for “Short Wave Stories,” a podcast designed to evoke the spirit of shortwave radio, where voices worldwide share unique, untold stories.
Submission Guidelines:
• Word Count: Around 1,000 words
• Topics: All subjects are welcome.
• Ownership: Writers retain full ownership. By submitting, you allow us to produce and distribute your story on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and YouTube if selected.
How to Submit:
• Format: Submit your story as an editable Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx). No PDFs, as they are difficult to format.
• Email Subject Line: Please include the title and exact word count of your story in the body of the email.
• Attachment: Do not paste the story into the body of your email. Make sure your story is attached, or it will be automatically rejected.
• Submission Email: Send your submission to info@studiojijiji.io.
Additional Information:
• If your story has been posted online, please provide a link in your submission email.
• Deadline: Submissions must be received by 12/30/2024.
• Only one submission per author, and all submissions must comply with the guidelines. Non-compliance will result in automatic rejection.
Audio Production:
Studio Jijiji will provide professional voice talent, music, sound design, and mixing to bring your story to life. Stories will be aired in our “Short Wave Stories: Tales Found Floating in the Ether” podcast series.

Studio Jijiji – Short Wave Stories Submission Terms and Conditions
1. Ownership of Work:
By submitting your story to Studio Jijiji, you affirm that you are the sole author and owner of the work, and you retain full rights to your story. Studio Jijiji does not claim ownership of your story; all rights remain with the author.
2. License to Produce and Distribute:
If your story is selected, you grant Studio Jijiji a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to produce, distribute, and publicly perform the story as part of the “Short Wave Stories” podcast across all distribution platforms, including but not limited to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, YouTube, and Studio Jijiji’s website and social media channels. This license includes the right to edit, adapt, and format the story for audio production purposes, including voice acting, music, sound design, and mixing.
3. Exclusivity:
Authors agree to a three-month audio exclusivity period starting from the story’s selection and production date. During this period, you may not grant permission for any other audio-based podcast or platform to perform, produce, or distribute the story without the prior written consent of Studio Jijiji. Text-based publication or distribution of the story remains under your control and may occur at any time.
4. Payment:
No monetary compensation will be provided for submissions or selected stories. Authors retain full ownership and control over their work, and the benefit of having their story produced, distributed, and showcased by Studio Jijiji is non-monetary.
5. Rights Reversion:
After the three-month audio exclusivity period, the license to Studio Jijiji becomes non-exclusive, and you are free to license your story to other audio platforms. Studio Jijiji retains the right to continue distributing the produced version of your story as part of the “Short Wave Stories” podcast series in perpetuity.
6. Attribution and Credit:
Studio Jijiji will prominently credit the author in all relevant places where the story is published or distributed. This includes the podcast episode, website, and other applicable distribution platforms. You may also be credited for the narration if you submit your reading.
7. Revisions and Edits:
Studio Jijiji may request minor edits or revisions to your story in collaboration with you if necessary. However, Studio Jijiji reserves the right to make editorial changes (e.g., for audio adaptation purposes) without affecting the core story, provided these changes do not alter the work's meaning, tone, or intent.
8. Submission Guidelines Compliance:
Failure to comply with the submission guidelines (such as providing an editable file, including word count, or adhering to the specified format) will automatically reject your submission. Studio Jijiji is not obligated to provide individualized feedback for rejected submissions.
9. Representations and Warranties:
By submitting your story, you warrant that:
• The story is an original work created solely by you.
• You hold all rights to the submitted work and can grant the rights outlined in these terms.
• The story does not violate third parties' copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights.
• The story is free from any defamatory content.
10. Withdrawal of Submission:
If, for any reason, you need to withdraw your submission, please notify Studio Jijiji immediately. However, if your story has already been selected for production and adaptation, Studio Jijiji may continue with its plans to distribute the produced version unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
11. Indemnification:
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Studio Jijiji and its affiliates, employees, and representatives from any claims, liabilities, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from a breach of the representations and warranties you provide in these terms.
12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction:
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed following the laws of the State of Illinois. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in California.
